  • Teacher to model clicking and dragging the first sequence of igh words, sounding out each word as it is formed.
  • For extra fun, teacher could point out the height meter in the top right hand corner of the screen - how high can Mango go?
  • Select pupils to come to the interactive whiteboard to click and drag the igh sounds, sound out the new word and to click the instructions so Mango can go flying with her friends.
  • Involve as many pupils as possible, this may mean playing the reading game more than once.
  • Encourage all the class to participate sounding out the igh words.
  • PLENARY: Hand out the individual whiteboards and pens and ask pupils to write two words from the reading game that they can remember. Allow a few minutes for this task. Teacher and teaching assistant could work with less able to help generate words, or to scribe if necessary.
  • Select various pupils to say their words out loud - teacher to list these igh words on the whiteboard. When several have given their words, teacher to show enlarged words (flight, thigh, right, light, might, night, fright, bright, high) from the game, showing each card one-by-one to the class and asking them to confirm whether the shown igh word is in the list on the whiteboard.
