  • Together with class, teacher to read instructions from page, model clicking and dragging and saying each ow word as it is completed.
  • Select pupils one-by-one to come to the interactive whiteboard to play the reading game.
  • Encourage the whole class to participate by sounding out the newly created ow words.
  • For additional fun, teacher to point out the height meter in the top right hand corner of the screen - how high can Mango go today?
  • If time allows, play the reading game again, giving other pupils the opportunity to play.
  • Give out the small whiteboards and pens (or paper and pencils), and ask pupils to list as many of the ow words from the reading game as they can remember.
  • Teaching assistant to work with less able, to encourage them to attempt to write a few words. Teaching assistant could scribe for them if necessary.
  • PLENARY: Teacher to select pupils to read out the words they have written, noting that these should be words from the game and NOT from the teacher's list from the start of the lesson. Ask pupils if they can think of any more and add to the list.
